PRECEPTS

Today, I would like to write about ANYTHING that comes to my mind, whether it is about a whole song that I like, or just part of its lyrics, and/or maybe about the Korean dramas that I recently like? I don’t know either, so just keep on scrolling and find it out yourself! :) And as always, hope y'all enjoy this <3

1. Eight - IU ft. Suga (A Song)

This song gives me chills every time I listen to it. Probably because of the music video and also because I recently read fans' interpretation of this song. People said this song was written for the deceased Sulli and Jonghyun. They were both died because of suicide. IU's latest music video was written from the perspective of IU who is sleeping and exploring her memory. In the music video, IU’s dream is illustrated in animation. In her dream, IU is flying in an airplane and a lizard suddenly appears in her window. After that, comes a scene in which the lizard turns into a dragon that flies into the sky to catch a girl in a white gown that jumps free off a cliff. Then, together they flew happily next to IU’s airplane, whilst IU looked at them with tears in her eyes.

Some fans theorize that the lizard turned into a dragon might represent Jonghyun, who likes Pokemon Charmander, while the girl in white might be Sulli. In addition, fans also believe that the elements of the music video are a direct reference to Sulli, such as 'Eight' represent the number of years the two have been friends.

It actually breaks my heart to acknowledge that fact, although I am not their fan nor am I that well-engaged in the k-pop world. It is just sad the fact that someone can feel so devastated to the point they want to take their own lives, and even more because they are successful in doing so. I can't even imagine the pain that they had to go through by not being able to share it and get proper mental health help that was enough to save them. While I'm at it, I hope if any of you ever feel any urges to hurt yourself or have any suicidal thoughts, PLEASE DO seek help. Tell anyone closest to you, and that whom you believe in. Believe me, someone CARES for you. Someone probably does, so don't keep it all by yourself.

As I once heard, "I'd rather stay up all night to talk to you rather than to hear bad news about you." And I am a huge believer of that. I'm not saying I am available 24/7 for everyone, I do have my own capabilities and boundaries too, all I'm saying is I'm willing to spare my time for those in need, and thus, I believe there are others who would do the same too. But if you still not fully believe that, that's okay. If you think you have no one around nor someone to talk to, then you can try to talk to people online who are educated (or at least familiar) with this field/topic by downloading the app "7 Cups of Tea", it is free AND available 24/7!

If you'd like to pay for professional help, then you can go to "Ibunda" platform (ibunda.id). You can also read articles related to mental health and get more information on pijarpsikologi.org. If you're a uni student, some universities provide free counseling sessions with psychologists for their students, so please check them out. If you're not, then there is free counseling (or that is charged very low) on your closest Puskesmas! But since there are pandemic out there right now, I am worried that it might not work like how it used to, so instead, please try to dial 119 then click 7 for counseling during this pandemic season. I hope this information could be of help for someone out there.

Don't give up, whoever you are, you matter. You always are! :)

2. Here Are Some Random Lyrics That I Found Really Fascinating

I really love to learn stories from songs. I usually try to learn about the meaning of the song whilst listening to it. For me personally, it’s like reading poetries or just normal stories. It’s engaging. It’s enhancing me.

“The time is gonna come when you're so mad you could cry, but I'll hold you through the night
until you smile.”
-Jump Then Fall, Taylor Swift

“Do me a favor, can your heart beat rise a little? Oh, would you be so kind as to fall in love with me?”
-Would You Be So Kind, Dodie Clark

“It's too much for the average man to stay, but you saved the day, yes you saved the day.”
-Fine Today, Ardhito Pramono

“We’d lie down atop each other, share stories that aren’t of sorrow.
There is no such thing as gloomy endings -I will forever meet you in this memory.”
-Eight, IU ft. Suga

“I might be smiling, yes, but don't mistake kindness for weakness.”
-Unbreakable Smile, Tori Kelly

“And I thought that it would kill me, but it didn't, and it was so nice; so peaceful and quiet.”
-I Forgot That You Existed, Taylor Swift

"I like shiny things but I'd marry you with paper rings."
-Paper Rings, Taylor Swift

I know I really seem like a hopeless romantic writing these many romantic-attributed lyrics. But wanna know a fact? I am one, lol. But for me personally, "love" has broader meaning than only romantics. You can love your mom, your best friends, your pets, and the love you give to them doesn't have and shouldn’t be less than the one you give to your romantic partner.

What I'm saying is, love has really broad definitions and every kind of it is important and can be as meaningful as it is with a romantic partner, so let's cherish each of them and not take any kind of good, non-toxic interpersonal relationships for granted!

3. K-Dramas That I Recently Like and That Is Meaningful
I am a fan of stories that consist of good character developments, light dramas and romance-comedy attributions in it. Although, I know for some people these stories can be a bit boring, but here are some k-dramas that I personally love based on those ‘components’:

• At Eighteen

At Eighteen follows the story of eighteen-year-old Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-wu), whose teenage life has been molded by his meager family life and the conflicts he faced in school. Forced to transfer for a violation he did not even commit, he arrives at Cheonbong High School and has decided to be a nobody: a loner just quietly riding out 11th grade. Little did he know the twists and turns and the surprises in store for his eighteen-year-old life (Wikipedia).

Soon, the loner inside Joon-woo has to come out of his comfort zone. Not only Joon-woo, but his fellow immature and inexperienced eighteen-year-olds, too, will have to experience conflicts and whirlwinds of emotions and face the prejudices of their world shaped by the adults around them. Together, they have to live their lives to the max and make life-changing decisions. And most of all, they must not forget to cherish every moment of their lives. For all they know, the memories of their eighteenth year of existence might be the sweetest, the most precious, and the most unforgettable (Wikipedia).

I love this story because it really captures the reality of life faced by many teenagers around the world, worrying about their future, getting pressured from parents, having family affairs, peer issues, etc. But what I love more about this story is how the main characters are shown as very realistic persons, they have issues but they are determined to grow, each in their own ways. It’s a really interesting drama that includes many conflicts but at the same time, makes your heart flutter with little things happening between the two main characters.

• Touch Your Heart

Top actress Oh Jin-shim, who goes by the stage name Oh Yoon-seo, has a scandal that damages her career, leaving her jobless for two years. In order to get a role in a major upcoming television series, she agrees to get experience at a law firm, working as a secretary to a lawyer named Kwon Jung-rok. Eventually, they fall in love and the following events form the crux of the story (Wikipedia).

I know, I know, this may sound too cheesy for some of you, just another two characters that eventually fall in love. But this drama isn’t only all about ‘kiss-kiss-fall-in-love’ kinda thing, because this drama involves the law-firm world thus it develops many mysteries (that involves crime and psychological aspects too) which makes it exciting if you’re also a fan of detective movies like me. And because the two main characters have very different personalities, their interactions are very interesting to see, and there are great character developments as well! :D

• Fix You
“Fix You” will tell the story about psychiatrists who believe in “healing,” rather than “curing,” their patients. Lee Shi Joon, a psychiatrist who is willing to go above and beyond to treat his patients, and one of his patients is a rising star Han Woo Joo, who is struggling with controlling her emotions even though she’s a really passionate and caring person.

This. Is. A. Must. Watch. Guys!!! Yeah, if you are also interested in psychological topics just like me, you’d want to watch this drama series. It’s not too hard to comprehend because the main character, the psychiatrist Lee Shi Joon is a really goofy guy who is really supportive with his patients, thus there is plenty of comedy throughout the drama too. I love how he treated all of them just like normal people, not ‘crazy’ people.

Here are some cropped-out dialogues from this drama that I really love:

“You’re not crazy or insane, you’re just hurt.
And only after you admit that you’re hurting can you be healed.”

“Aren’t someone who realizes others are hurting, is actually the one who is hurting the most?”
This drama is really soothing and opens new perspectives for me, I hope it does the same to you!

That's all that I wanna share with you guys this time. I hope there’ll be another coming up soon and thank you so much for reading… as always, have a nice day people! :)
P.S. If you're wondering why I suddenly write in English.... Well, I don’t know but sometimes it is easier this way if I’m talking about less serious topics. But for this time, I really try to write properly so if any one you would like to broaden your english knowledge and vocabulary, you can learn a little from reading this article. Or maybe just to get rid of your boredom? Well, anyways, I would really love it if you guys enjoy reading this as much as i do when writing it. :)
